We are moving the server that the Forge is on to accommodate the growth of it. This will take quite a bit of time, so I'm planning real downtime. This Saturday and Sunday, May 12-13, the Forge will be down. I also include Monday as a "just-in-case" measure. We will put a status page up on the site to let people know what is up, so feel free to check during that time to see if it is up.

Things appear to be back up, at least if your DNS has updated to the new server. The site looks a little different, which I actually don't know why, but I kind of like the new look, so it's not worrying me.

Here's an administrative note: Vincent Baker (lumpley) is now an administrator for the site. He has every bit of ability and authority that I have had up until now.

Thanks for all the effort to keep the site alive! Nice to see Vincent joining the team as well!

The Articles and Reviews sections are empty for the while being, just in case.

It looks as if Saturday + Sunday + maybe-Monday became half-of-Saturday. That's some serious flying fingers!

Best, Ron

Congratulations, guys!

I think I fixed it. Somebody confirm for me?

All good, apart for the little bit at the end:

"The Forge created and administrated by Ron Edwards and Vincent Baker."

Apart from the "created by" historical detail, this mean that Clinton will not be the site administrator anymore?

P.S: another thing that I noticed writing this: the spell checking option disappeared. For foreign-speaking people like me it was a really big help.
Ciao,
Moreno.

(Excuse my errors, English is not my native language. I'm Italian.)

Mails from the forge now come from "lumpley at  davie dot textdrive dot com". So, some people may have to tweak mail filters a bit.

The spellcheck function seems to be gone. Is it connected with the change of the server? Will it be back? I've been finding the option pretty useful.

lumpley

It turns out that the spellcheck function depends on the details of the PHP installation the server's running. We might be able to bring it back, but it probably won't be especially soon. Sorry!

For those who regret the spell check function I recommend the use of the Firefox browser in its latest version.
You can then add various dictionaries that let you check the spelling of text typed in submission forms. A simple click allows you to change language.

Besides, Firefox saves the text you've been typing and can often rescue posts one would have lost with other browsers (or older versions of this one). Perfect for the happy forum-goer.
