Hey guys im interested in playing a table top war game thats also an rpg. I know games workshop has some, but what about other companys? Whats good? The thing is im not really into dropping all that cash on the books, id rather just get minatures and play a free one i can download off the internet? Does anyone know of any good ones? If it comes to it id be interesting in making my own, where would I start? I think itd be good to base it off an exsisting rule set and just make altercations.

I plan on having my rpg system double as a wargame system so you can have mass battles in RPG's but my system isn't anywhere near done, and I'm shamelessly plugging currently, but yea, I don't know of any but Warhammer but I'd be interested to hear of others or of ways to implemenet both interests in the same system.

p.s. I just remembered that I've heard of people convertin Warhammer rules to use the Reign system designed by Greg Stolze, and I know Reign has extensive rules for mass battles. So you might try that, it uses the ORE which is very innovative and cool if a bit wonky.

Well, what kind of thing were you thinking of. There have been several games that started hereabouts. Can you tell me more about what you'd envision the kind of game you want to be like?

Hey, hold on a minute! Guys, this is First Thoughts at the Forge, not "gee let's rap about role-playing." The guy said that he was interested in playing a game of that kind, not designing one.

thed00d12, I recommend that you take this question to Story Games or to RPG.net, where topics like this are common.

This thread is now closed, which means no one is to post to it again.
