Hello, everyone!

I have written a game inspired by the arcade game Shadow Over Mystara. It is a fun system that uses Jason Morningstar's Dungeon Squad! as a basis and adds what I believe to be a neat reward system. The premise of this game is fantasy action. The players will make characters that have a need to rid the world of evil creatures that attack innocent people. There are weapons, magic, danger and action to be found. Don't feel that this game should force a story to occur. If it does, great! Otherwise, relax and enjoy the action! It is intended for two to four players for about an hour at a time.

However, it's in horrible need of playtest and rules tweaking. I know I can have fun with it, but can others?

Also, anyone that is interested in helping me do some layout for the text I have is welcome to contact me. Reading a flat document can be difficult, I know.

My blog where I talk about it is here: http://markcausey.wordpress.com
My playtest document is here: http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dzmzjr6_5gcn35k
My email can be found in the first few lines of the playtest document.

J. Dettman, thank you, whoever you are!

Embedded in the link below is a FANTASTIC layout for my playtest document. I will be posting some more AP soon to hopefully attract more playtesters, but hot damn, J., this is exactly what I needed to make it a viable project. Thank you VERY much!

I'm reading the laid out version. Could well have an opportunity to test this soon, or not. In case I do, a clarification: where should I look for the rest of the rules? Obviously there's some rules for how to hit things, design monsters and such, but I'm not seeing them spelled out in this document, apart from the examples.

Thanks for the interest!

The rule for hitting things may seem hidden: The number to roll against to do anything is always 4.

As for how to design creatures and bosses, I will work up a list of examples of what I've used and some general guidelines on how to make them. At this time, I'm not completely certain on it all.

Cool, I like Shadow Over Mystara.

However, I'm unfamiliar with Jason's games. So, just to make sure - is this a stand-alone game, or does it require the original Dungeon Squad? If so, is it available somewhere?

Mark Causey

Jason's Dungeon Squad! is embedded within the game text.

Ok then. I'll read it once I manage to find some time, and possibly give it a try :)

Wonderful! I really appreciate it.

Be sure to look through the blog for posts with old character sheets and props I've used:
