I N T E R N A L   M E M O R A N D U M
Ministry of Silly RPGs
Niggling Details Divison

To whom it may concern,

The Sub-minister in charge of Excessive Polyhedra and the local zoning commision have requested that some issues be raised with regard to your proposed development, which shall be hereforward referred to as "Zarklefrood".

Firstly, the statutes and bylaws regarding the "Zarklefrood" seem to be missing some vital data such as project size, developmental targets, randomizing factors, community impact, animal rights activists and pickled herring.

Secondly, we would be interested in determining additional developments that might arise due to such a development by your company.

Thirdly, have you considered the favourite colour of the "Zarklefrood".

Once these issues are addressed, we will consider moving forward with your proposal.

Please feel free to complete forms 45F-Double D, 864B and 6347-3242-Alpha. They may not speed the process of your inquiry but will give you something to take your mind of things while we convene with the MinistryD of Silly Walks next door.

Thankyou.

Lord Reginald Smythe-Waterhouse-Peabody-Jones the Fourth.

I think this message from Reginald is trying to ask a few simple questions that might enlighten potential designers who don't know how to proceed with your proposed design goals.

1. Do you have a rough page count you're looking for with this game?
2. Is it going to be an officially licensed "Monty Python" product?
3. Due to the Non-sequitor nature of Python comedy, are you planning a generic set of rules that will cover the basic flavour of the comedy, with specific sourcebooks covering the various movies and running gags?
4. Do you have intentions for one-shot games only, or campaign play?
5. Have you considered any of these at all?

Why he'd address these concerns in an internal memorandum is beyond me...

As long as we're adding questions, a clarification please: Is this design going to be for a "game" or a "game system"? There's a big difference between looking for mechanics and looking for the full monty.

And, of course, the most significant question of them all: what kind of deal are you offering rights-wise? Are you looking to buy design work or publishing rights, for instance?

This being a forum resource for independent game design, we are a bit interested.

Alright now to answer some of the questions that has arisen.   1. Do you have a rough page count you're looking for with this game?  No we do not have a particular page count as of now.  2. Is it going to be an officially licensed "Monty Python" product? Yes.3. Due to the Non-sequitor nature of Python comedy, are you planning a generic set of rules that will cover the basic flavour of the comedy, with specific source books covering the various movies and running gags? We are only planning for one book now starting with the Holy Grail and with the possibilities of branching out to other parts of the Python universe.
4. Do you have intentions for one-shot games only, or campaign play? We are wanting to start with the Holy Grail as our starting game with the possibilities of moving into other realms of the Python Universe
