I know that the current buzz is all about GenCon, but we're still pressing on with our Go Play Peoria minicons. The next one will be held on August 30, 2008 at the Samaritan Ministries building from 9 am to 9 pm.

Turnout has been decent for the last two, although the roleplaying side of things is a bit slim. So, I'd really like to see more roleplayers showing up and strutting their stuff. Personally, I'm planning on being ready for a variety of RPGs, and I'd love to see other folks do the same. I'm looking specifically at the Chicago crowd with hope and expectation.

Admission is free, though we're asking for a $5 donation to help cover the food cost. If you'd rather donate food to the food table, just get in touch with me and we'll work it out.

I plan to come, and will try to drag my regular group down with me. Or as many of them as can make it, anyway.

And, I shall bring roleplaying games, among others.

Hi,

I'm contributing this as a data point (and as an Ashcan Frontista, not a Forge booth member):

I ran 2 scheduled sessions of Black Cadillacs at the IGE.  Both generated sales at the booth (3 from the first, with 4 players; and 2 from the second, which had 2 players).

I think that there's incredible value to publishers pairing up, being knowledgeable about each others' games, and getting their games in the GenCon schedule.  Then, it becomes a matter of organization so that you and your 'partner' aren't running at the same time.  Then, someone's always at the booth.

For what it's worth,
Darcy

Um... Darcy, I think you might have meant to post that on the GenCon Post-Mortem thread?

He did. No biggie, he's duplicating it there.

Let's keep this discussion going about Go Play Peoria, which unfortunately I will not be able to attend.

Great! Looking forward to seeing you again! And yes, roleplaying games among others is the key here. Go Play Peoria is all about diversity of game play. Plus, Jungle Speed!

Diversity = good, yes. But empirical data suggests that when both storygames and boardgames are both available, there is a definite inertia toward boardgames until they pretty much take over.

Now, this crowd may have a little higher immunity to that than most, granted. But I suspect it's still there.

We shall hold the line!
