FlatCon 2008 Seeking Sponsors
«

I met a couple of nice gentlemen at Gen Con who asked me to pass along some information to the Forge community about
FlatCon
, a small local con taking place in October in Bloomington, IL. They were very interested in the Forge booth and were hoping that some of the creators would be interested in sponsoring FlatCon and it's charity event with game donations. What follows is their pitch, without any particular endorsement from myself or Bully Pulpit Games.
Quote
FlatCon's goal continues to be to demonstrate and promote the gaming hobby
to new and existing players. Some of the activities we will be hosting
include Role-Playing, Miniatures, Card Games, Board Games, Anime and
Painting Contests/Lessons!
Joining FlatCon this year is Gamers For A Cure, a group raising funds to
help fight cancer. Gamers for a Cure will be sponsoring a number of
activities, including game demos, a raffle, and a build-your-own-sword
workshop. All proceeds raised from the activities will go to the American
Cancer Society's Relay for Life.
Based on previous attendance, we are planning on over 450 to 600 people
attending this event. Please visit the website
www.flatcon.com
for survey
results from previous years.
After the convention a program booklet will be made available online.
All companies sending merchandise (of any amount) to be included in door
prizes or tournaments will receive a quarter page 3.875" x 2.5" ad in the
program book. Companies sending merchandise of $200 or greater receive a
full page 5.125" x 8" in the program book. We can resize full pages ads down
to size, but resizing ads up may cause a loss in resolution.
Advertisements will be created with company name, website address, and
website logo, unless a replacement is sent. If you have camera-ready
artwork, please ensure it meets our advertising requirements: PDF -- include
all fonts, no passwords or encryption, EPS -- include all fonts, TIFF, GIF,
JPEG format 300 dpi or higher for IBM PC, you may email the ad to
flatcon@flatcon.com
or ftp 3MB+ files to
www.flatcon.com
username: ads,
password: ads. The 5.5" x 8.5" program booklet will be printed in
grey-scale. *The deadline for ad copy is September 8.*
Thanks again!!!

That's in my neighborhood (so to speak). I've not yet been to FlatCon, but it has a pretty good reputation in the local community of being a well-organized con. Indeed, one of the primary sponsors for last year's con was Just For Fun, a quality Peoria game store. Also, I believe that this con even draws some attendance from Chicago.
So, anyways, this con would probably provide a reasonable payoff in exposure.
