Pain, Does it Affect Skills?

I had to ask, Does the Pain from wounds, also affect Skills. So if I had a Pain of 5, would I subtract 5 dice from my skills (in effect not able to roll if I have an attribute of 5 or less)?

I don't know if there is an official rule or not since I am still learning the game system myself but I did already think about this. I was thinking of just adding the Pain modifier to the skill and that is the new difficulty number for the skill.

Depends on the skill and wound in question, doesn't it?
Broke your leg? Probably can't dance then. Shouldn't give you any problem with reading or talking however.

Actually it could. When dealing with the effects of pain someone would probably less likely to be able to concentrate on what they are reading and could miss what they are looking for. I am assuming though that the pain modifier is only really in effect right after you take a wound and that the pain eventually subsides as the wound heals. After the leg has been treated (set, splinted and whatever else) he probably could do that read roll with no problem.
Also something that I have been told that could have an effect on reading/writing/speaking is that when someone is in severe pain they instinctually revert back to their native or first-learned langauge. Have only heard one firsthand story of this though, but the guy that told me it said it was actually something that happened a lot.

How about the shock affecting all skill rolls?

Makes sense to me. The question is, do we modify the dice available or do we modify the TN? And do shock and pain affect skills differently? I envision shock as something that would affect everything... from mental to physical skills. Pain could be used to apply to physical skills, and maybe half of it to mental skills. To be arbitrary, we could apply Shock to dice and Pain to TNs with regards to skills. Well, not completely arbitrary... Shock could be seen as so visceral that it affects your stats directly when you try to use them, hence it wouild reduce the amount of dice you get to use. Pain, on the other hand, is localized and might be able to be ignored with a high enough amount of willpower... so the TN increases represent
how difficult the skill is to you at that moment
. Am I making any sense here? Just some ideas...

Shock wouldn't have any effect unless you attempted to use the skill on the round following the injury which gave it to you. After that, the residual effects of shock fade away, and you're left only with the pain, if any.

Ah, very true. I suppose Shock would only come into effect if you were using the skill next round (unlikely) where there might be some residual Shock. My bad. So I guess the shock would be only applied in very few situations. But whether to penalize TNs or Dice Pools for pain is still worth figuring out...

I think I am going to go the route of making pain affect skill rolls depending on the extent of the injury. Have a Leg wound, subtract your pain from Agility based skill rolls. Have a wound on your head, subtract from MA/Per rolls, and so on.
