That is indeed my keeper of the gate. She's sweet and lovable, if you've remembered the password. At 13, she still gives the impression of being able to whip anything in the neighborhood, should it be rash enough to confront her.
Honestly, we leave the back door open all night, and never worry about critters coming in. She sleeps by the back door, and makes a hell of a racket whenever anything tries to come through the door. To date nothing has come through, although many have approached.

Reminds me of a cat I used to have when I was a kid. There was a big black dog that lived across the street and she would chase it.
I didn't think dogs could climb trees, to be honest.
