Ron --
Given that having all of the players read the core rule book is a requirement for playing Sorcerer, would you consider giving a group discount for an order of six copies?
If six is too low, at what point would you consider a group discount?
Thanks,
-- Eric

Yeah. This is one of the reasons why I'm considering handouts vs. letting them read the book.
Play X has the book for a week but never got around to reading it, and the others still need to read it. Gah!

Players have to read the book?

My players never read the core book, and my sessions went fine. Why do the players have to read it?

Hi Eric,
I don't think I've ever said it so strongly as making reading the book a
requirement
, actually. It's certainly written to be read by any player, including GMs, rather than GM-alone as assumed by many RPG texts.
Um, discount ...? No, I don't think so. Margins are tight right now due to the second printing plus supplement production costs plus GenCon. It was OK to ask though.
Best,
Ron

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, Ron.
Don't know where I got requirement. Nor is it worth tracking down. But Jack's problem with getting people to actually read is on my mind. I'll have to weigh time commitment of making a hand out vs. the commitment of making enough "hobby money" to buy the players copies.
Funny how I never faced this problem back when I worked the night shift at Kinko's . . . .

If you're looking for something to give to the players to read so they get a basic idea of what to expect, you can always d/l and print out the Apprentice Version. It's a little out of date, and probably contains stuff not relavent to your game. Just tell them as much and go from there. You can do worse and you can white out certain sections. or cross them out or otherwise not print/copy them.

Okay, I checked the website and I did a search of the forum. I'm either blind or not asking the right questions. Either way, can you point me to the Apprentice version?
Sorry for the trouble.

From the main page go to The Game and then go to Downloads. Or just go
here.
Be sure you read it first before you hand it out to your players.

Thanks.
It will be a good quiz for me, seeing if I can tell what has changed.
