I mentioned this in another thread but would like to see people's input... would anyone care to show off what their "scene records" look like?

I'm interested in an idealized, minimal scene record done by a perfect record keeper who placed a premium on both usefulness and saving paper.  Not a novelist, but not a shorthand stenographer either.

The format you'd like to have your scenes in so that they'll be useful for you in the future when you need to refer to them for the purposes of Challenges and maybe Complications.

What kind of format do you use?  What's it like?

It's easy to imagine component cards, i.e.

MUMFORD
* Dark Elf (cf. Dark Elf master component)
* enjoys crumpets
* lightsaber duelling expert
* court stenographer of Emperor Zonk IV (q.v)

But I'm curious what people would consider to be the canonical form of a set of records for scenes in the game...

No, I've never played Universalis, and have very limited RPG experience... But I am a big fan of Blackjack's page and his column at http://archive.dumpshock.com/bjcorner.  While directed at FASA/WizKids's Shadowrun, he has some great gems of GM advice.  Fortunately, as far I can tell, he doesn't have a set policy about links to his site so..

Check his Freeform Encounter Sheet from
http://blackjack.dumpshock.com/ARCHIVE_sheetstables.htm

*shrugs*  I could be off target, but I think its adaptable to Universalis, and I'm going to try if I ever get around to ordering this game (:

Anyone have any examples?  This thread's been dangling for two months ):

Also, hi there, indie-rpg community.  Nice work.

Ok here's a verbatim of the Temple of Bast Scene #2 card
---------------------------------------------------------
Location:Temple of Bast
Time: continued from Scene1
Chars: Seer
           Pi Wa Ket
           Snake
           Temple Cats

Event: Pi wa Ket and the Temple Cats attack the Snake (killing it)
Event: Seer has a Prophecy "I See the City overrun by the forces of the Evil Snake God, unearthed by the wild tribes of the far desert”
Event: Introduce My-Kat and send him for the Elders (exit scene)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

In general, all I note about a Scene are those things in the scene that people have spent Coins on, like Events, Location changes,etc. Note who is there at the start and any exits or entrances. Also note if the scene has been Faded to Black.

You don't need a full write up like a novel, just enough to jog the memory about the scene later on, and some record of the things in a scene were established as Fact by paying for.

Scene Record? What's a scene record?

Did I miss a memo? Don't think I've ever seen such a thing.

;-)

Hey, I'm glad to be here, if it wasn't for this site and Matt Machel's Bedlam freebie I'd never have been able to talk my friends into playing RPGs.  I'll have ordered your book by this time tomorrow, and everyone said they'd come back next week to check it out.  It's just cool.
