New Collectors Edition of TROS

Ok ever since I got into TROS (last October or so) I've been wanting a collectors edition of TROS. This game is just too good to not have one. Now I know they got sold out a long time ago but if Jake made another  slightly different collectors run (Maybe with just a couple different picts thrown in) I'm sure a ton of new pople would buy that up. It would also help with his costs for OBAM and TFOB.

So Jake, do you think this could be another possibility?

How about the rest of you would you be willing to by a New Collectors Edition?

I would definitely be up for one as long as it was possible to ship it to the UK.  From what is says on the main site I think you could only buy it from the website?

I want one, though I recognize that multiple runs of collector's editions somewhat defeats the purpose.  Anyone out there want to SELL their collector's ed?

now this is what you do, when TFOB and OBAM are released you do a new massive collectors edition that is a single bound version of teh core book plus both supplements. The price would be hefty simce it is three full books but it would be well worth the money if you ask me.

Rattlehead and I have been saying the same thing for years, I'd love to see TROS, TFOB, and OBAM all combined into one huge tome.  Even if it were in the neighborhood of $200 US.

That would be a hell of a big book. The main book is 300-odd pages, OBAM is going to flesh out at 128-144 or thereabouts, and TFOB is likely to be somewhere in between them in size. You also forgot SATF.

I wouldn't mind seeing another "special edition" of TRoS (you know, leather/leatherette cover, color plates, whatever...) but I like having things in a few books to keep the size / weight down.

I don't know how GURPS is regarded on these fora (somehow, the word "forums" just never worked for me...), but the fact that I can run many games with just 3E and Compendia I and II is very nice. As is the fact that their indices are all cross referenced. A good index does wonders for a complex game.

Also, a good binding. I prefer hardcover books and would always prefer to pay for a book that'll last. RPGs, unlike many books, aren't read so much as used.

Can't wait for my copy of the full rules to arrive!

Totally agree with you on this, but there is one solution a few people here as well as myself appear to use.

If I really like a game I always buy two copies of the main rules - one to preserve in a pristine state and the other to use for gaming and reading purposes.  If I really, really like the game I also get a collector's edition (if available) to 'treasure'.

Does this make me sad?

I also feel the same way. I've got gaming books that are nearly 20 years old that are still in grweat shape, thanks to the hardcover binding. I've also seen many books go by the wayside because of soft covers.

As a final note, i have a hardcover book printed in 1926, and it is in great shape. :-)

Actually, no. It just means you are a collector, like most gamers. Hell, i'm sure we're all proud of our individual collections of "excellent condition, rare and out of print gaming books". :-) I know i am.

Hell, I've already arranged to have a copy of OBAM preserved "forever" by having it hermetically sealed in glass, along with a copy of my "authors paycheck" from Driftwood :-)
