Intangibility in CAH
«

I was kicking around an idea for Skull Gulch involving some "ghost" bandits when I tried hashing out an intangibility SA. I can't seem to get one I'm happy with. Has anyone got one I could look at?

Intangibility SA

Hi Derek,
well, I haven't used intangibility in any context in CAH so far, and it's never been a factor in any of the superhero or fantasy RPGs I previously ran. But I felt it was a bit unfair to keep you waiting for a reply so long, or to keep you waiting any further.
So, here is the first thing that came to my mind for Intangibility,
written in the format that's used in the CAH book now.
Anybody out there, please feel free to correct and modify my suggestions.
Ghostly Intangibility (MiscSA or MSA)
Description:
The character is automatically impervious to normal physical attacks and can move through solid objects effortlessly. He either exists partly in another dimension, or can re-adjust his molecules in a way that makes him pass through walls and other objects.
Power Level: High [6]
Mode of Travel: Phasing, i.e., can pass through objects [4]
Rating: 4 [9] -- used for speed, etc.
Bonus: Major Advantage, physical attacks do not harm the character [3]
Restriction: Major Disadvantage, cannot pick up any objects of the tangible world [-3]
Restriction: Major Disadvantage, always on, can never become tangible on his own [-3]
Total cost: 16 CPs
Does that come close to what you want?

Didn't see your post before - not sure how I missed it!
I would make it an SA with no components, personally.

Intangibility question

Sure, that's also possible...
The first thing that had come to my mind was, naturally, a High Power Level, and no components, so it's simply 6 CP x2 = 12 CP.
Then I thought that this was too low compared to what other characters have paid for their armor (DSA), and the ghosts would be impervious to _any_ physical attacks, wouldn't they?
But it just depends entirely on what you'd like your ghost bandits to be capable of doing in the game.
Are those bandits that look like ghosts, cannot be touched, bullets fly through them harmlessly, but they themselves hold guns and can fire _real_ bullets at you (not "ghost bullets" *g*)?
If so, of course the SA wouldn't have the Restriction "cannot pick up or move objects of the material world". It depends on what kind of ghosts they are. "Slimer" in The Real Ghostbusters cartoon was by definition a ghost, but he could hug, punch, and shove people and operate items all the time. He also left a slimy substance sticking to a wall when he passed through it. ;-)
Oh, and he also gulped down real food, IIRC.

Yes, but they also wouldn't be able to attack YOU, either, so it balances out.

That would be an SA of the guns they have, and possible a major advantage on the Intangibility SA.
Which is the nice thing about CAH - both Norbert and I are right. ;-)
