Just got the first addition our new game "The Center Space" out!!!. Please check it out!!! We need more feed back!!!

Briefly, it's a 2d10 game that doesn't use classes. It takes place on Earth, recently freed from a 400 year alien occupation. The setting is bleek and dark.  Humans inherit a world completly altered by the invaders.

Players can choose between nine races (humans are actually a minor race in the galaxy). And can choose Psychic Powers or even Mystical Powers (strange powers, everthing from weird energy from alien artifacts, to shooting flame from their hands.)

Look on the website for more details!!!!

Even though this is for a RPG, this is complete and total spam. If the original author reads this, I want you to know that this is incredibly disrespectful.

I buy every indie game I can afford, even if it's not my style. This sort of marketing is one of the few things that makes me say, "Skip it."

If you want to continue this thread by talking about your game and asking for advice, go ahead. From the looks of your site, you might want to visit the Publishing forum, and ask someone how to make HTML that looks remotely professional.

Well, I apologize if I did offend anyone, or wrote something inappropriate. I honestly just want more feedback. I didn't think I was spamming. I admit I don't have a lot of experience making RPGs, I'm just hoping I wrote a good story and a playable game.
My intention was if I just wrote a brief description about the game on the forum that someone might look at the web site and tell me if it sucks or sounds interesting, or if I should put more detail in something, or whatever.  I would love to talk about it with people that have more experience even if they don't buy it. The last thing I want to do is to find out I'm trying to sell a game that sucks!
I know I'm not selling much, nor do I really care. I didn't even think of this as marketing.
I also know the web site doesn't look to professional (but that's the kind of feedback I need, so thanks). But a nicer looking one is being made as I write this. I just thought it would be better just to get the information out and get some feedback as quick as possible. I am a rather impatient person... So again sorry to anyone who thought I wrote something I disresepectful to this forum, and I hope everyone who saw my thread reads this.   I guess I didn't think to deeply about what I wrote.

Given that earnest response then, I'll give what little feedback I have time for at the moment.

Basically, the game needs more fleshing out in terms of the rules. You define all these things that will be present...but there are no actual mechanics as to how they function.  Traits, for instance, give "special abilities."  What kind of special abilities?  You say that there are levels; what do they do, how do you gain level?

Most of your rules -- if I may be somewhat blunt -- are fairly standard.  There's nothing wrong with this per se, but ask yourself why you have or need these different descriptors.  Why levels?  What effect will this have on the gameplay?  Why the standard skills/attribute breakdown?  Why points for character generation?  If you cruise around the Forge a bit, you'll find some games with wildly different kinds of rules for defining characters.  Maybe this scheme ultimatey will work for you; but it's always good to know why -- and the strengths and weaknesses of any system.

I haven't looked at your setting much, but I think there's enough to start with, for sure.  Writing more detail isn't a priority, so much as finding a "feel" for how you would like the game played, and then instituting some rules that accomplish that.

Hope that helps.

Why the D20 conversion?  Or why isn't the whole system written in D20?

flobby77

Well we actaully wrote most of the game a few years ago before all this d20 stuff became so popular. For all kinds of reasons it's taken awhile to get going... It's already copyrighted under the current system, so I figured I'd just keep the rules as is. That and I kinda like the rules we made.
I friend told me a while ago that it's better to create the rules around the world and not the other way around.
But, I also thought more people might get interested (?) if I had a d20 version, that and I like d20 so it sounded kinda fun to do. ..  A d20 version will be a long way off anyway. I was worried that I'd be changing the universe if I changed the rules. I've gotten a lot of mixed oppinions from friends and people that have helped on the game  whether to just forget about a d20 version or not.
