Well, being as I'm getting close to actually releasing a beta worthy game, fate decided to slap me one.  In a routine search of some old hard disks, I found something I thought lost to the world.  My first RPG!

I looked it over, and wow.  Definately not publisher material.  None the less, the masochist inside me screamed out to be heard.  And so, I listened.  What ever my reasoning, I don't know.  Perhaps to satisfy that inner child that put so much thought into it.  Maybe to say, "look everyone, I can finish something."  Or, possibly to give everyone a good laugh.  Despite my comments at the end of it, it did contain a lot of elements that influenced my way of RPG thinking.

So, for those of you who have absolutely nothing better to do:

Six Shooter.  Down in the archives section.

You have been warned.

Not bad, actually. Some editing and clarification, a spellcheck, and toss some assumptions, and you'd have a pretty good minimalist Simulationist game, with strong possibilities for Narrativist drift. Sort of Risus-meets-Storytellers-meets-Whimsy Cards.

I particularly like the term "die porn".

I think the first RPG I finished was SOPLARP, back in '96.

Thanks.  I was really proud, back when I finished this.  Now, I look back at some of the idea that I thought I invented.  Mostly organic advancement, the Whimsy Cards, and goal based resolution stand out as important elements to me.  They say a lot about what I was trying to accomplish, and my design style.  The fact that I wrote the entire thing in Wordpad also highlights my horrid spelling and loathing fear of the apostrophe.

For the sake of nostalgia, I think I will leave it just the way it is.  It's a reminder of a simpler time, and of exactly why I work on these things in the first place.

On a side note, SOPLARP isn't so bad, yourself.

Heh. Thanks. Like I say on the main Ivanhoe site, "I still kinda like it, tho -- I like to think it was an interesting accomplishment for the time."

To match your WordPad comment, it was originally written in Word, the first version that could do HTML, and converted from there...
