What different types of mechanics can a game system have?

Immediately, I can think of:

Task-resoloution
Metagame-quality management
Resource management
Character creation
In-game creation:Items, spells, etc etc
Narrative Structure
Personality-tracking

Others I could be informed about?

It seems to me that you've missed credibility distribution, character improvement, and rewards, right off the top of my head; I list those and a few others in http://www.indie-rpgs.com/articles/23/">Applied Theory, I just can't think of them right now.
