Hello,

The essay has been finished for about a week now. I'm currently filling in the details on the proto-game I'm including with it, tentatively titled Cold Heart, or Out in the Cold, or Cold something-or-other. Maybe ... Cold Hands, that's a good one, except that it's funny. Anyway.

Anyway, I just thought I'd let people know: all the comments are in, and at least considered if not fully utilized, the final draft is done insofar as such things ever are, and it's ready to go except for the game.

Best,
Ron

Woot!

How about, "Cold Feet?"

It's just cruel to tease people like that.

But how about... Cold Comforts? Cold at the Core? Cold Communion? Cold Characters? Cold Ones?

Thanks Ron.  It's good to know the status.

Oh, and everyone - this is just my observation, but I deem it very, uh, unwise to provoke the essayist/game designer with a chorus of title suggestions.  I'm not sure where it comes from - some ages-past debate over the right name for "Atlantis" (Ron was angling for "Mediterania", I think), or witnessing some band failing to form because no agreement could be reached as to the name, or - something.

But talk about titles definitely triggers a Humanity roll for Ron.  And none of us know what his current score is . . .

Hello,

Yeah, that's enough about titles. (Gordon, the Atlantis/whatever rings no bells, I'm afraid ...)

Deadlines, too. I got the manuscript to the reviewers before Christmas, ahead of self-imposed deadline (Jan 1), so give me no crap about "Is it done yet" or whatever. We're into post-production, which anyone who's done it will tell you, can't be deadlined.

I think I've been misinterpreted.  My title suggestion was intended to be humorous.  Looking back at it, I can see how it would come across as me being an asshole.  Oops.  Anyway, just to clarify, I'm really looking forward to this last essay, Ron.  No offense intended.

Sighhhh ... no one is offended, least of all me. It was funny, Ethan. Gordon and I were merely posting to indicate to everyone that once was funny enough.

These "no, I'm sorry," "you don't have to say you're sorry," "oh, I'm sorry about that too" kind of exchanges make me crazy too. So best to say, the Cold Feet thing was funny, and for everyone to be happy about that.

Back to work. The more time I spend on this stuff, the less I get to finish the Cold-Whatever-It-Is game.

Hello,

Given weather constraints and a cancelled morning of martial arts classes, I was all set to devote a lot of Saturday to finalizing Zero at the Bone, the game to accompany the Narrativism essay.

But I left the freaking MS, in both hard copy and software copy, in an inaccessible place until Monday. And the writing was absolutely in the most crucial point of that "notes to prose" process.

Damn it. No progress. Shovelling snow. Total troll-in-the-hole lifestyle. No biscuit.

And, as of today, the links have been inserted into the essay, the glossary is finished, and the game is all done.

So it's all in layout/format stage, and when Clinton's done with that, it's goin' up into the Articles section.

And then you can get started on the revised GNS essay!
[/unreasonable whip cracking]

Congratulations, Ron. Looking forward to reading it.
