Modern combat rules?
«

I think I remember reading somewhere that the TROS rules were orginally based on a modern combat system. Is this true? Are these rules available? If not, can anyone recommend a stupifyingly comprehensive, yet breathakingly simple modern combat system?
thanks

Hi jpeg.
This is not true, I'm afraid, although there are some TROS-to-modern mods.
If you find the "stupifyingly comprehensive, yet breathakingly simple modern combat system," let me know.

I could, but Millenium's End is out of print for the time being.

I think Phoenix Command was more than a bit lacking in the "breathakingly simple" regard...

True, but having read and comprehended the current rules set for Star Fleet Battles, Phoenix Command was Breathtakingly Simple (tongue planted firmly in cheek :))[/quote]

Unfortunately, about the only place to find it is at a gaming store if someone is trying to get rid of them. I have had little or no luck finding them on ebay

I'd still go with ME to be honest. PC is a very thorough and detailed system, but it apparently takes ten minutes just to calculate the path of the round through the body.
In ME you can determine the results of a gunshot in a minute tops, 20 seconds if you are on your game.

I have ME also; The good thing about the calculation time is that it usually only takes that one shot to finish an opponent off (Much like in TROS with a good hit . . . .)
