On A Downward Spiral...

I have been talking with my editor and we can't seem to come to an agreement on which form we should use to present the world history for the game.  He likes an essay style because it maintains the flow of the book and I like the timeline style of presentation because I think it is easy to read.  In a perfect world we could have both, but it is getting down to the wire and page count is already an issue.  I'm thinking that we both maybe a bit too stubborn on this point and decided to get some outside input, always a good thing right.  So my question is which do you perfer (timeline or essay) and why?

Conspiracy of Shadows (title may change) is a game that melds elements of the X-Files and a slavic medieval setting (but not europe).  No elves and stuff.  We like to call it, well I like to call it medieval conspiracy horror.

Thanks

Conspiracy of Shadows: Revised Edition
Everything about the game, from the mechanics, to the artwork, to the layout just screams creepy, creepy, creepy at me. I love it.
