TROS in the Warhammer World

I've recently decided to run 'The Enemy Within' campaign set in the Warhammer World with my gaming group. The idea of using a pre-written campaign appeals to me, especially one that is so well written. I read through some of the past threads and several people have mentioned converting WHFRP into TROS. Has anybody got very far with such a conversion?
My own intial thoughts were that it is fairly straightforward as a conversion on the part of the combat and careers. It is very easy to create a career on the basis of skills. The sticking point seems to be the magic system. My initial thought was to treat 'Battle-Magick' spells such as fireball and lightening bolt as at least spells of three because they effect large numbers of sentient beings. In a group level encounter there would not often be the chance to cast such powerful spells given that they can take over a minute or two to cast. I might also use the Imperial licensing of magic in the Old World as having as part of its granting the condition that a magic user not use such destructive magicks without authorisation. This would also prevent the use of magic as a solution to all problems the party faces.
Any comments?

I haven't run TEW under TRoS but I have played it under C&S. IMO, finest campaign ever published.
If you are going to let the players create their own characters then reserve 1 or 2 SAs from each PC for your own purposes. Let them create the links between their characters and express their raison d'etre with their other SAs. Use the reserved SAs to link them tightly with the plot of TEW.
As far as the magic goes IMO TROS magic won't work in WFRP's gaming environment. Either abandon TROS magic or convert the campaign to a location in Weyrth. IMO some of the key scenes in TEW will be easily resolved by a PC with TROS magical capability. TEW isn't designed for PCs with limitless magics.

Hello to all of you,
my group just played through an opening session for the Doomstones.
Not as good as TEW, but also a nice campaign with the "dark" feeling of Warhammer.
For my part - i think the registration for sorcerer's is a good idea.
The men with the big black hats are looking out for unlicenced magic-users. So, a little frightening with a burning stake and some zealot Sigmarites helps you much.
Have fun.
Greetings from a very old town in "old Europe"

We're currently playing through TEW as well.
What we've basically done is take the bits we like out of each system and mix them together fairly freely. This basicall involves transposing the TROS rules onto the Old World dropped warhamer elves for siehe. Changed the character creation a little (F in race can be a hobbit ie little flaw, + cook skill ;)
It's worked quite well so far (I'm just a player so don't really know what is coming up). None of the PC's are magic users so we don't worry about that.
What we have found though is that we have to keep at least an SA per character up to date with the plot, which breaks SA's a little bit to enjoy the game we've agreed to live with it.
Hope this helps,
Dan

If you're interested, I have a pile of rules, equipment, magic etc written up for Warhammer fantasy using ROS. Drop me an email
cegorach@iinet.net.au
and I'll get them to anyone that wants them. A bit rough and unfinished, but you're welcome to play around with them.
