I am preparing to run a game of TROS under the setting of George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire setting. (One of THE best fantasy serries ever written, IMHO)   More specifficly, 1-2 generations back, when Mad King Arys II has just taken the throne.

I plan to tell the stroy from 2 diferent points of view (to stick with Martin's stylings).  Basicly, each player has 2 characters: A Lord on the King's small council, and a Knight in service to the lords.  Points of view, and characters, will change with the completion of each "chapter".

Now, the main meta-plot, is a priest who starts showing up all over westeros, preaching to the commoners a strange new religion. One of the tenants of this religion, is that all men all equal and should remain so.  Sowing seeds of revolt where the priest travels, the Lords will have to keep tidings quite and away from the ears fo their new King (who has a penchant for burning bearers of bad news alive).  The mysterious priest of course, has a few tricks of his own.

I am currently trying to come up with little "side" plots to involve the characters.  Unfortunetly, none of these characters are made yet, so I have no idea of their SA's.

Any ideas on good side plots to run?
Good plots that have worked in the past?

I loved those books and i think it lends itself very nicely to TROS.  It didn't quite work out with D20 with the reliance on xp.

Anyways
How close to the end of the reign of King Arys are you running it?

Side plots are going to rest heavy on the SA's of the group but there are plenty of cool things you can throw in.  If the characters are from the North and even if their not to a lesser degree you can throw in something to do with the wall and all the juicy creatures over it.

Something from the lands over the seas would be cool as would some tasty morsels about dragon legends

I'm running the game at the start of Ary's reign.  AS I want the king to be a center obstacle for the PC's, something to do with dragons would be cool...  Perhaps a rumor about 3 fosilized Dragons eggs...
