first off, lemme just say hello to everyone, i'm new to the Forge, but should be bouncing through from time to time.
okay, maybe i'm just missing something. I've looked all over the book, several times, and searched the fourms. I can't find the stats for an arming glove ANYwhere! They are mentioned a coupel times in the book, (under different prof's) but no stats. They are in the Combat simulator (cool program BTW), and i can see they have some stuff about penalties to blok certain attacks, and can be used for double attack and such, but can anyone give me the actual hard stats on the bugger'd things?
thanx in advance!

Welcome to the Forge.
By stats, do you mean as a weapon or as an item? I mean, do you want to know stats to inform attack/defense actions or to know how much money your character must spend to buy one?
If it's the former, I'm unsure how that would apply. An arming glove would be used for half-swording (p. 62, 64), mainly. And it's about as simple as saying, if you're doing that, it's assumed you're wearing one.
As for price, gloves are 8c by Imperial Standard. (p. 203)

At the risk of being thumped, arming gloves are in TFOB. In the meantime, do a search through the forum, it has been discussed a few times and you should be able to find the stats.
Brian.

This is probably what you want. Weird. Parrying with a glove?

sorry, i'm all kinds of new here...
"thumped"?
"TFOB"?
also i did search for "arming glove" and "arming AND glove" and didn't come up with anything. i'll try it again.
and yes, i was looking for the weapon stats, such as ATN, DTN, damage, approp manuvers, etc etc.
**edit** yeah thanx, that other thread DID give me a basic idea. in the combat sim it said something about a CP penalty toblocking certain attacks, but i'm willing to ignore that for now.

Basically an arming glove is a gauntlet with a metal cuff and a glove made of fine maille.

An arming glove is nice for a little added thump when you decide your opponent needs a flattened nose, too.
I was the first, I believe, to ask for stats for an arming glove, probably also the first to use one in in-game combat. It's a very effective weapon if used properly, but does have it's limits, like any other.

I always thought you guys were making these up. But I looked them up in an arms and armour glossary.
Fencing gauntlet, duelling gauntlet.
A gauntlet for the left hand especially designed for parrying a thrust or seizing an opponents blade. The scales on the fingers lapped upwards, the reverse or the ordinary method, in order that a sword point could not catch under them. In addition the palms were often lined with mail so that a blade could be grasped with impunity (or so you didn't catch the point more likely). Late 16th and 17th centuries.
There are 2 pics in my book. They both show gauntlets entirely of plate armour, not too different from battlefield gauntlets, other than the opposite overlapping, and they are more finely articulated apparently, and with long cuffs.
The stats for any gauntlet should work, + a mailed palm maybe. Same DTN as your hand I'd figure.

Nah, we try to be pretty dead-on where it comes to weapons and stuff.

Don't worry about it, it's an on going thing we ask for some insight into a rule and Brians standard answer is "it's in TFOB" (which is the new sourcebook The Flower of Battle) Though Brian this doesn't bother me in any way whatsoever :) i like you telling me what i have to look forward to :)
