I was reading through the old Players' Guide thread and finding tons of great stuff that could be beneficial to people who are beginning to think about what they want to contribute. So here's a link:

This was how we got here. I said "Players' Guide," but it looked like too big of a project to jump into. Someone said "zine." Chris and I both said "but we don't read zines." But we do read journals. Hence: a journal. That's the quick and easy version. There's definitely more too it, like the influence of Daedalus and 20by20room and GameThink and a few other places.
