Hi there.

A question about initiative that came up during this weekends session:

One character had less reflex than his opponent in a red-red situation, and decided to buy initiative.
On the foolowing check it was a draw.

Will the opponent still attack first, or will it be a simultaneous attack?

Its a simaltaneous attack that probably skewers both characters.

Don't forget, though, as a general rule (see Book One), draws are first resolved with a WP roll. If that ties, *then* it's really a draw.

When in red-red situations, we usually let the one with the highest reflex strike first. If equal reflex, we roll REF/(ATN current weapon). More successes, you strike first. Then comes buying initiative.

If equal successes on buying initiative, you're saying that we shall roll WP? Hmmm...

Sounds good to me. :)

I think you have to win the buying initiative contest to get the initiative.. So the WP roll might not come into play at all. But of course I'm not Jake :)

As another question, can you try buying initiative in a red/red situation, when the reflex contest has tied, and the WP contest has also tied? If yes, who has that option? I imagine both combatants would want to do that, since if you get the initiative, you're much more likely not to get killed.

Somebody should gather all these little bits of information from the forum and put them in one place. :)

my question i have is, if an opponent buy's the initiative and win the contest, can i then buy it back again, in a new Buy initiative?

hope you understand my question.
ie. can you in turn buy the initiative from each other until one runs out of CP's?

Jake has confirmed this here on the forum. Makes things alot more interesting, and for the attacker, slightly safer.
