Cool painting! But the painting has kind of a 70's look (to me), while the logo is more of a 90's thing - perhaps go for one of the two to avoid a clash?

I hadn't thought about it, but, yeah, it does have a classic D&D sort of feel to it because it's so colorful, doesn't it? I guess you can't outrun your influences...
As for the logo -- I just threw that in there as a space holder. It's a font that I found on the web a few years ago called Chiller. Ooooo.... In the end, I assume that either Simon will add the title, or tell me what he wants so I can do it.

Hey,
Andrew, nice work. I dig the misting effect around the two in the background. Definately very 70's. Sean Connery in pink leather with dye job in bad fantasy movie 70's (which is cool).
My question is why the figure in the foreground doesn't have the same misting effect as those in the background. It makes him stand way out to my eyes (which are often bleery from tying one on).

I did the misting in order to create a sense of depth, and since the closest figure was in the foreground, I left him unmisted. I see your point, though. He does pop a bit more than he should.
This cover is my very first digital piece, so I'm trying to figure things out as I go. The beauty of it is I can easily monkey with the mist.

I think he may pop doubly because (as mentioned) the no-mist, but also because he's running from a very different, cooler, color palette than the other folks.
Love the eye-drawing psychedelia though. Definitely worth reducing the foreground guy's influence, if only to let the viewer concentrate more fully on that.

For the record, the misting worked exactly as you intended it in my viewing, Andrew, but you could always go for best of both worlds by giving him a bit of mist in the corner too.

I think I like the misting as it is. I quite like the way the foreground guy is more prominent than the rest. I actually like the lettering too but might have a look at some other fonts to see if I prefer another style.
