Opposed resolution and directorial control

I like the way Trollbabe and the Pool can grant the player the ability to describe the result of a conflict.
Are there any systems that combine such an approach with an opposed resolution system - say, where player and GM both roll, and the result of that roll somehow distributes narrative rights?
Donjon qualifies with its Fact system, but the dice system is a little clunky, and the results are a little vague. Trollbabe, with its reroll system and escalating consequences of failure, provides much more than just "win or lose" - it tells the loser exactly what he can put in his narration.
In Trollbabe and the Pool, the Player enjoys a privileged status - and I would like a system which puts player and opponent on a more even footing - providing concrete guidance on exactly what each can do to the other as part of the result's narration.
Thanks! :)

My Life with Master, Dogs in the Vineyard, Capes, to my knowledge. Almost certainly many others that I haven't yet gotten a chance to play extensively.

In Dust Devils, all players of characters in a conflict play a hand of cards with the GM. You can win the right to narrate the outcome, victory for your character, or both.

You might be interested in Dust Devils. In Dust Devils conflicts are resolved by opposing poker hands. Best poker hand wins the conflict but the high card holder narrates. Furthermore, like Trollbabe, ALL conflicts deal "damage" which get distributed across the character's stats. How the "damage" is distributed is up to loser of the conflict and the narrator is obliged to take the choice of distribution into account.
So, take a classic shoot out. If the loser sinks more damage into say the emotional stat than the physical one, then the narrator has to say how the defeat was more humiliating than actually physically harmful.

InSpectres does this.
So does octaNe, also by Jared Sorensen, as does Metal Opera (umlaut over the O), as I recall.

Hey, :)
Primetime Adventures applies here as well.
Cheers,

Sorry for not responding and thanking everyone for their responses earlier.
If it's okay, I'd like to discuss a bit more what kinds of mechanics I was looking for in a couple of days when I have time - explaining why some of those suggestions were good fits and others weren't. I know the Forge has some kind of no thread-necromancy rule, will I have to start a new thread?

Hi Darren,
Rule of thumb, subject to my judgment as moderator:
Leave threads alone once they're off the front page of a forum, OR over three weeks since the last post (and bear in mind the last post's relationship to the posts before it, too).
If things are moving fast in that forum and stuff drops off the front page quickly, go with the three-week thing. If that forum moves slower, go with the front-page thing.
When in doubt, send me a private message.
And for the record, this particular thread is alive and kicking.
Best,
Ron
