Dang.  I only read a few of her books, but she was good.  I figured I'd post it here because she showed up in the bibliography thread.

No! When did this happen?? I didn't hear anything about it... but then I haven't been listening to the radio much lately.

Cripes, March?? How the hell did I miss that? I'm crushed. Octavia Butler has long been one of my all time favorite authors. I reread the Xenogenesis trilogy every year, sometimes more.

She was also a champion of human rights and social justice, through her writing which explored via science fictional premises the interactions of people, cultures, races, and ideologies.

The world has lost a great light. But her work lives on, and I encourage anyone and everyone to seek it out and enjoy it.

I just finished to read Bloodchild  (Hospedeiros in portuguese). It is one of the best short stories I read.
