I'm in the Midwest (Indiana) and my FLGS is having a hard time getting in a single copy.  Damn the bad luck!

Hi Tony,

Frankly, your store has no excuse. The Riddle of Steel is available from most major distributors, and if for some reason that seems like a problem, the owner can order from Tundra Sales Organization, the fulfilment house.

The store guy knows exactly who the major distributors are for that area, as well as Alliance, the national distributor. He also knows who Tundra is. Again, there's no reason on this earth why he can't get a copy sent to the store, within a week, with a single phone call.

Sometimes retailers need a little customer insistence to get games that they aren't familiar with, or that they had previously decided not to order, or that they happened to miss in the catalogues. But there's no way that any store can be having "trouble" getting TROS.

Best,

Apparently, I'm experiencing the "blame game," because the owner is blaming Alliance for the delay and not mentioning any of these other distributors.  Plus, I think he has only ordered one copy for me, despite Jake's recommendation to retailers on the website.

Well anyway, I'll keep pestering him, and thanks for the info.

I'm trying to find this too and having just as little luck.  My FLGS, Playing Games and Leisure Games all had one of two stories: either a) they'd never heard of it, or b) they had ordered it but had only recieved a small number of copies which had already sold, and they had not recieved their reorder.

Can anyone else suggest where I might get it from in the UK? Not even amazon.com have heard of it and they're normally a weapon of last resort...

Already tried Wayland's Forge too.  But - finally hunted down a copy at Travelling Man in Derby.  Yip!

I finally got mine on Friday. I haven't had as much time as I need to thoroughly examine it, but that's to be expected.  I do really like what I see though.  Great job Jake!

Hey, might I ask what store you bought it from in Indianapolis?  I'm from Bloomington and have been trying (with no luck) to find a copy of TROS down here, figure'd I'd try my luck in Indy this weekend.

Sure, it was Boardroom Games in Broadripple.  Give them a call because when I got mine there was only one copy left, and that was just about a week ago.  There phone number is (317) 257-5149.  Good luck!

Mr Norwood and Co.,

Just wanted to thank you for the effort you put into this ripper of a game.  Recieved mine yesterday and am hiding it under my papers at work.  The humour, presentation and ideas contained therein are supurb.  I can't wait to start a game.

For Australian posters I ordered my copy from:

Playin' Games are trying to order me a copy too.  Seems to be some confusion over the revised edition.  Since it's not a second edition, the distributors don't seem to be making any distinction between it and the previous edition.  Certainly, I was told that they weren't intending to re-order until current stocks had sold out, although I don't know whether what they're stocking at the moment is the revised edition or a previous edition.

So, for the benefit of somebody like me, who doesn't own any previous editions to compare it to, how to I tell that what I'm holding in my hands is the newest edition--before I pay for it?  (From what I've read here, the changes are minor, so I'm guessing that the cover--usually the easiest way to tell--may well be the same as the previous edition.)

Cheers,

Aidan.

Hi there,

Jake can correct me on this if I'm wrong, but I think that any book in the hands of the distributors at this moment is the second printing. I think people may be confusing the retailers etc by talking about the "revised edition," because they'll be looking for those exact words on the cover and not seeing them.

Again, if I'm not mistaken, all 300 copies of the original printing were sold either at cons, at a very few stores through direct sale from the publisher (Jake), or on-line through the website. So again, any book that's going the traditional distributor-to-retailer route is from the second printing.

To be very, very sure - look at the afterword, which is quite clear in explaining what the second printing contains.

Best,
Ron

I saw a hardcover copy today in my FLGS here in Copenhagen, Denmark. I didn't have the money to pick it up, though.

Still, it's here. Congratulations!

Edit: Jake, the store I saw it in was Fantask, or more correctly:

Fantask Spil
Skt. Peders Stræde 35
DK-1453 København K.
Danmark
www.fantask.dk

And again, congratulations. TROS has come a long way in 6 months!

Any and every copy of TROS in any stores is "revised edition." More accurately, it's the "only edition," and that little 300-copy run was the "pre-release edition."

Either way, it sold out a looong time ago, and only the newest printing is available.

Promise.

Jake,
who has 2 copies of each edition

How many copies have you sold by now, all editions?
Or is that classified information?
