Hi,

It is impossible for me to shut up any longer. In order not to point my finger at anyone in particular, I made it a new topic.

Folks, when you talk about "gloranthan cannon" it is complete and utter nonsense. It is canon with one n, which has nothing to do with gunpower and big projectiles.

This thread is now closed. No, shut up. Closed I say! ;-)

So you're saying that a Gloranthan cannon isn't in Gloranthan canon? What about the canons in Sheshnella, is it canon for those canons to have cannons? Can the canons in canon can-can?

There are no Canons in "Sheshnella" because the canonical form of the name is "Seshnela", and they don't have any cannons anyway.

There are Gloranthan Cannons, but the Mostali own them all.

Cheers

Graeme

P.S. I agree with Peter.

Okay, no Seshnela cannons -- but what about Seshnelan canons?

Ummm, let's see.

The Abiding Book - Authorised Version as revealed to the Prophet Rokar.
The Theoblanc Papers - The writings of the current Ecclesiarch of the Rokari Church.

Those are considered Canon in Seshnela. There is pressure for all Orders and other religious organisations to fall under the wing of the Rokari Church, so I'd guess that not much else is held as "canon" by Church and State. This is all in the HQ rulebook.

As to the other type of Canon - a clergyman belonging to the chapter or the staff of a cathedral or collegiate church (thankyou Webster's Online), there must obviously be people of such status - just to support the Bless Congregation rituals at the large Cathedrals - but I've never actually seen the term used itself. I'd go with a "probably" and ask on the Digest, paying most atttention to Trotsky (Jamie Revell) as he's the chap doing the Western stuff for Issaries.

There is a shocking lack of cameras, photocopiers and inkjet or laser printers - none are mentioned in the sources I have - so I would guess that the final type of Canon is very likely absent. :)

Just trying to be a helpful, little Gloranthaphile.

Cheers,

Graeme

P.S. The Dwarf of Dwarf Run has been known to "hire out" the Cannon Cult - Dragon Pass:LoT

Well, there were rumours of the Rokari Canon Cannon, using remnant God Learner devices to launch clergy at the opposition, but it met with resistance from the upper orders of the church...

So, the use of the Rokari Canon Cannon is not canon.

The Durulz have been shooting themselves out of canons in my Glorantha for decades.

I call it the Cult of the Flaming Ducks.

Um.

Do you mean cannons?

Cause if they've been shooting themselves out of monks, I don't wanna know about it.

Oh God, usually I would close a thread like this, but I can't bring myself to do it.

Cannon on, my friends ... in this thread alone, though.

Best,

LMFAO

You have to understand, guys; I'm a Roman Catholic Artilleryman (no, really). This all has very special meaning to me. :-)

Mike

"Oh Lord. Bless this canon, thy Holy Artillery Piece, that it's explosive emission may cause thy foe to quack up, in hysterical laughter..."

Is a duck fired from a canon count as a guided, or misguided missile?
Is it a smart munition?
Is the canon a one-shot launcher, or is it [shudder] reloadable?

Sorry.

On a slightly (ahem) more serious note, I'm intrigued by the notion of voluntary durulz artillery rounds. Why?

Cheers

Does this mean that the Gloranthan cannon canon is canon?
